Facial Pre + Post Care

Prepare for Your Sinta Ritual

A little preparation goes a long way. Following these guidelines before and after your facial helps us safely customize your treatment, minimize unnecessary sensitivity, and support your best possible results.

Please review this guide before your appointment and refer back to it after your treatment.

Before Your Facial

3–5 Days Before

Unless otherwise instructed by your esthetician:

  • Pause retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, exfoliating scrubs, at-home peels, and other potentially irritating products in the treatment area.

  • Avoid waxing, depilatory creams, or other aggressive hair-removal methods on the treatment area.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning, or anything that may cause a sunburn.

  • Avoid picking, peeling, or intentionally exfoliating your skin.

  • Keep your skincare routine gentle and your skin well hydrated.

If you use a prescription skincare product or medication, do not discontinue it without first consulting the healthcare professional who prescribed it. Please let your esthetician know what you are currently using so your treatment can be adjusted when appropriate.

Before Your Appointment

Please let us know before your appointment if you:

  • Develop a sunburn, rash, open wound, cold sore, or active skin infection

  • Experience unusual irritation, swelling, or sensitivity

  • Have recently had a peel, laser treatment, microneedling, waxing, or other professional skin treatment

  • Have recently received Botox, filler, or another injectable treatment

  • Have started a new medication or prescription skincare product

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Have experienced any other changes to your health or skin since completing your consultation form

Some conditions may require us to modify or reschedule your treatment for your safety.

The Day of Your Facial

Come as you are — makeup is completely okay. We'll begin your treatment with a thorough cleanse.

If possible, avoid introducing new or highly active skincare products immediately before your appointment.

Your facial will be customized based on your skin's needs that day, so your treatment may vary from visit to visit.

After Your Facial

Your skin has just received professional exfoliation, hydration, and customized treatment. Giving it a little extra care afterward can help maintain your results and protect your skin barrier.

For the First 24–48 Hours

Keep things simple.

  • Cleanse gently using lukewarm water.

  • Keep your skin well hydrated.

  • Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every day.

  • Avoid picking, scratching, or peeling the skin.

  • Avoid scrubs, cleansing brushes, and other physical exfoliation.

  • Avoid introducing new skincare products.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure.

Depending on the treatment performed, your esthetician may also recommend temporarily avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive heat, steam rooms, saunas, or very hot showers.

Follow any personalized instructions provided at your appointment, as recommendations may vary depending on the modalities and products used.

When Can I Resume My Actives?

Unless your esthetician gives you different instructions, allow your skin to feel completely calm and comfortable before reintroducing retinol, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide, or other potentially irritating active products.

When you restart them, introduce them gradually rather than using several active products at once.

If you're unsure whether your skin is ready, reach out to us first.

What's Normal After a Facial?

Every complexion responds differently.

Depending on your treatment, you may temporarily experience:

  • Mild pinkness or flushing

  • Slight sensitivity

  • A feeling of tightness

  • Mild dryness or flaking

  • Temporary changes in congestion after extractions or exfoliation

These effects are generally temporary and should gradually improve as your skin settles.

Advanced Treatments

These are general facial guidelines. Chemical peels, microneedling, resurfacing treatments, and other advanced services may require different or more specific pre- and post-care.

Always follow the treatment-specific instructions provided to you when they differ from these general guidelines.
